Otherwise Healthy

When an otherwise healthy and energetic centenarian was bedridden for a month, his family became concerned. At 106, Sriram lead an active lifestyle with minimal health concerns. Little did he know he was destined to become a first in his homeland of India, and maybe the world.

What was he first at? After determining the cause of his sudden health problems to be clots in his brain that could not be eliminated by medication, he had brain surgery. Not without it’s risks for a younger person, Sriram sailed through the procedure in which both parts of the brain were opened and the clot removed. He was able to walk the very next day. According to his medical team, he will be able to lead a normal life without any further issues.

Lessons Learned

There are so many lessons to be learned from Sriram and his situation. First, his family didn’t just write him off when he became ill. They didn’t assume that his age meant that there were no options for him. They believed in the strength and vitality of the man they knew and loved and sought answers. Second, Sriram’s medical team also saw past his age. They looked at an otherwise healthy man and saw that while there were risks, there was a strong potential for healing as well. Lastly, Sriram clearly never gave up. He didn’t have the mindset that his life was over. He didn’t assume a bump in the road was the end of the road.

What mental limitations have you set for yourself? What is holding you back today, and what could limit you in the future? Are you living 100:100, 100% for 100 years or more, just in case, like Sriram, you find yourself with a potentially long road ahead at the age of 106? You’ve been given advance notice!
